The Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, flagged off the inaugural export of kratom products produced by CV Cahaya from Pontianak, West Kalimantan. The event took place at PT Oneject Indonesia, Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Friday (February 28th).
The Trade Minister explained that the exported products amounted to 351 tons of kratom, or 13 containers, valued at USD 1.05 million, approximately IDR 17 billion. This export marks the first kratom export since the implementation of the kratom export trade system, whose regulations were issued in late 2024.
The Trade Minister expressed his appreciation for the successful inaugural kratom export. The kratom, exported in powder form, can be processed into various health and herbal products. The Trade Minister also stated that the moment of releasing the kratom export has been eagerly awaited by business actors.
Addressing the increase in added value for exported kratom, the Trade Minister stated that the Ministry of Trade has appointed PT SUCOFINDO as the surveyor to carry out verification or technical tracing of kratom exports, equipped with a testing laboratory. This is a tangible form of the government’s attention in helping business actors increase the added value of a commodity, in this case, kratom.
The Trade Minister hopes that the release of this inaugural kratom export can become a continuously developing momentum to encourage the expansion of export markets for Indonesian products while driving the national economy.
